Composed of more than 250 members, the League offers many musical education programs for youth and adults alike, creates fundraising events that top the million-dollar mark, hosts diverse and elegant salons and seminars and showcases opportunities to meet a global assortment of musicians, conductors and artists.

A Musical Tribute to John Williams & Steven Spielberg
A Musical Tribute to John Williams & Steven Spielberg is a fundraising event presented in partnership by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association and the League of the CSOA. Proceeds benefit the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s artistic, educational and community engagement programs in Chicago and across the globe.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, we are celebrating the legendary collaboration between composer John Williams and filmmaker Steven Spielberg as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra brings to life some of cinema’s most iconic music. From Jurassic Park and Jaws to Indiana Jones and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the scores born of this 50-year creative partnership have captured imaginations around the world.
Enhance your evening by purchasing the event package, which includes preconcert drinks and bites plus prime seating at the concert. Ample food stations will feature delicious cuisine and drink stations will offer a selection of wine, beer, and soft drinks. Mingle with other guests while enjoying lounge seating in Symphony Center’s Forte event space. This year’s event is co-chaired by League members Mimi Duginger and Margo Oberman.
Programs of the League
Programs of the League span music appreciation, fundraising and education. Our members are passionate ambassadors volunteering for a wide range of activities. Here are just a few of the many programs:
- The signature Fall in Love with Music Luncheon featuring a CSO guest artist.
- The annual Musicians’ Luncheon that honors CSO musicians.
- Annual sponsorship of a Civic Orchestra of Chicago musician.
- Adventures in Music partnership program, which provides school and community organizations with access to CSO educational resources and CSO for Kids: Family Matinee concerts.
- The Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition, which showcases the talents of Illinois’ most exceptional young soloists.
- Area Engagement Events that provide opportunities for fellowship and audience-building in local communities.

Membership Requirements
There are two levels of membership within the League of the CSOA: Active and Supporting Members. Both are open to men and women of any age.
Active Member Benefits

- Invitations to all area events and other League Fundraising activities
- Invitation to the Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition finals
- Invitation to the Musicians’ Luncheon
- Exercise voting privileges at the League of the CSOA meeting
Active Member Requirements
- Pay Annual Dues of $150.00 by December 1st.
- Contribute to the Annual Fund a minimum of $150.00 per fiscal year (preferably by April 1st, but June 30th is the cutoff date).
Active Members of the League are persons who demonstrate their desire to actively participate in projects and programs. Active Members are encouraged to commit volunteer time, financially support the League’s projects and programs, serve on at least one (1) Committee, attend at least one (1) League meeting each year and attend Chicago Symphony Orchestra (“CSO”) concerts.
Supporting Member Benefits

- Invitations to all area events and other League Fundraising activities
- Invitation to Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition finals
- Invitation to Musicians’ Luncheon
- May not exercise any voting privileges
Supporting Member Requirements
- Pay Annual Dues of $150.00 by December 1st
- Contribute to the Annual Fund a minimum of $250.00 per fiscal year (preferably by April 1st, but June 30th is the cutoff date).
Supporting members of the League are persons who desire to have a close affiliation with the CSOA but are unable to actively participate in the projects and programs of the League.
