Brief Definitions

Gift Annuity – Receive a fixed sum quarterly for life from the CSO.

Cost Basis – The original monetary cost of an asset or investment used to calculate capital gains.

Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity – Receive a fixed sum quarterly for life from the CSO, beginning on a future date.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust – Receive a fixed percentage of the trust principal as it is revalued annually; allows additional future gifts.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust – Receive a fixed sum each quarter, determined when the trust is established.

Remainder Interest in Property – Deed your home or property to the CSO, but retain residence rights for your lifetime or term.

Charitable Lead Annuity Trust – Pays a fixed percentage of your trust’s value to the CSO for a term of years or one or more lifetimes. Assets then go back to you or others you name.

Charitable Lead Unitrust – Pays a percentage of the trust’s value, determined each year, to the CSO for a term of years or one or more lifetimes. Assets then go back to you or others you name.
