CSO All-Access Chamber Music: Sequoia Quartet at South Shore Cultural Center

May 1, 2022

Overview

The Sequoia Quartet performs a free concert at the South Shore Cultural Center highlighting the youthful genius of Richard Strauss and Felix Mendelssohn. The program includes Strauss’ String Quartet in A Major, Op. 2, and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, written when the composers were 16 and 18, respectively. Strauss’ romantic string quartet is full of musicianship, while Mendelssohn’s piece is a delightful and masterful homage to Beethoven’s quartet writing. When these works are paired together, the expressive character of the violin, viola and cello is on full display.

This event takes place at South Shore Cultural Center.
