Overview

Brahms once called A German Requiem his “human requiem” — and it fits. The gently powerful score emphasizes consolation for the living rather than fiery judgment, and offers us a chance to reflect on love, sorrow and the passing of time. Mozart’s Linz Symphony has a contemplative strain of its own, before a joyous finale that is to be played “as fast as possible.”
