In honor of World Piano Day on March 29, an annual celebration of the piano that occurs on the 88th day of the year, we return to 2013 and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Keys to the City Piano Festival, which was curated by longtime CSO collaborator and friend Emanuel Ax. Along with performances, pianos in public spaces and a Piano Day celebration at Symphony Center, a duet by Dmitri Yanov-Yanovsky titled “Three Worlds” was commissioned and performed at the festival.
Below is the music for this commission and a video in which Emanuel Ax plays Part 1. We invite you to explore Part 2 of the work and have a virtual duet with Emanuel Ax. Enjoy!
