Wilkins Conducts Price & Dvořák

May 5, 2025

Overview

Reaching across generations, Antonín Dvořák and Florence Price explore similar sound worlds to honor their homelands and ancestors. In his Eighth Symphony, Dvořák evokes the Czech countryside — its birdsong, peasant dances, hymn tunes and sun-dappled melodies. Florence Price composed her Third Symphony amid the Black Chicago Renaissance, and the engaging work nods to American folk music and soaring spirituals.
