Overview

Composed under the gathering war clouds of 1914, Ravel’s Piano Trio melds Parisian refinement with the teeming rhythms of France’s Basque region. In his Civic Orchestra debut, Alexander Shelley conducts a brilliant orchestration of the trio, along with Debussy’s wondrous seascape La mer and Lili Boulanger’s exquisite ode to a spring morning.
