This week, conductor Lahav Shani and piano soloist Beatrice Rana make their debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a program celebrating Rachmaninoff's 150th anniversary year. The program includes Prokofiev's Classical Symphony and Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances. In between, Beatrice Rana joins in Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Tchaikovsky's “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from The Nutcracker Suite, for piano 4 hands. Rounding out the broadcast, Daniel Barenboim leads the CSO in Wagner's The Ride of the Valkryies from Die Walküre, Forest Murmurs from Siegfried and Siegfried's Death and Funeral March from Götterdämmerung.
