When Muti’s on the stage, Robert Coad, VIP Services manager, plans to be there

The 2023-24 seasons of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Center Presents are just weeks away, and members of the Sales and Patron Experience team are here to help. Tickets and subscriptions for all series are now on sale and can be ordered online or over the phone.‘’

Can’t decide which concerts to select? Over the next weeks, staff members will offer their own choices for the must-see performances of 2023-24.

Robert Coad, manager of VIP Services, confesses: “Oh, my, where to begin? I would have thought that the longer I work here, the easier this exercise would become.

“I truly cannot pick just five concerts to attend next season. I’ll try to highlight some of the concerts that I am most looking forward to attending. As a reminder, I do attend Thursday A, Thursday B, Thursday C and the visiting orchestra series.  Although this certainly doesn’t cover everything that we do, I feel that I am pretty well-covered."

His selections:

Riccardo Muti’s fall residency, Sept. 21-26 and Sept. 28-30: On the top of my list are the two subscription weeks that Maestro Muti is conducting with us this fall. If he’s on stage, I want to be in the audience.  Sept. 21-26  Those concerts are 09/21, 09/22, 09/26, 09/28, 09/29 and 09/30.

Everything Mahler: I am also a huge Mahler fan, so expect to see me here for Mahler 1 (end of October), Mahler 4 (mid-March 2024) and Mahler 2 (mid-May 2024). Not to mention Mahler 6 being performed by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra on April 28.

The best of Beethoven: The composer’s Fifth and Seventh Symphonies are both favorites of mine, so I am also looking forward to those.

CSO x JaLCO: The collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in late April is sure to be a popular hit.

I could go on and on, but suffice to say, I will be spending a lot of time at Symphony Center during the spectacular 2023-24 season.
