Cindy Gold

Cindy Gold recently appeared in the world premiere of James Sherman’s The First Lady of Television at Northlight Theatre. Chicago-area appearances include The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington at Steppenwolf Theatre, Wipeout at Rivendell Theatre, several seasons of Christmas Carol at The Goodman, Indecent at Victory Gardens, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Drury Lane, Measure for Measure at The Goodman and The Taming of the Shrew at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.

She appeared at Lyric Opera of Chicago in Showboat and My Fair Lady, and also at Northlight Theatre in Pride and Prejudice, Jekyll and Hyde, Mothers and Sons, and Awake and Sing. Regionally, Gold performed at the Asolo Theatre in The Cake, the Kennedy Center/Washington National Opera in Showboat and Daughter of the Regiment (where she shared a role with Ruth Bader Ginsberg!).  She appeared in The Music Man at Glimmerglass Opera, both in New York and at the Royal Opera House in Muscat. Gold performed several summers with Peninsula Players. 

She won a Jeff Award for playing Gertrude Stein in Frank Galati and Stephen Flaherty’s Loving Repeating.  Recent TV appearances include Work in Progress, EmpireChicago Fire and Leverage. Recent film roles include Ghostlight and I Used to Go Here. She is a professor emeritus of theater at Northwestern University.
