Matthew Musachio

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, violinist Matthew Musachio now lives in Chicago as a performer and teacher.

He began his collegiate study at Oberlin College and Conservatory as a double-degree student and then continued his education at University of Maryland, College Park, where he graduated with his bachelor of music degree, cum laude. In 2023, he received his master of music degree in violin performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where he studied with Cornelius Chiu of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Almita Vamos.

Past festival experience includes Interlochen Center for the Arts, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, National Music Festival and Red Rocks Winter Institute. He returned to the Chautauqua Institution for his second time in summer 2023.

In addition to his engagements with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, he also holds a section position with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Outside the concert hall, Musachio maintains a private studio of young violinists and teaches privately at the British International School of South Loop, Chicago.
