Overview

When Yunchan Lim won the 2022 Van Cliburn Competition, he dazzled judges with a formidable all-Liszt recital. The pianist “displayed mind-boggling virtuosity and interpretive depth scarcely imaginable in one so young,” wrote The Dallas Morning News. Still as in-demand and thrilling as ever, Lim solos in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 4. Esa-Pekka Salonen opens the program with his own Tiu and ends by turning up the heat with orchestral selections from Berlioz’s passionate Romeo and Juliet.
