Overview

CYSO’s flagship 125-member Symphony Orchestra—made up of some of the most talented and dedicated young musicians from across the region—takes the stage at Orchestra Hall for their final concert of the season.

The orchestra will present the world premiere of AURA by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Bernard Rands, a piece commissioned through CYSO’s new Composer-in-Residence project. Led by Music Director Allen Tinkham, the program also includes thrilling Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Titan, George Walker’s Lyric for Strings, and Wieniawski’s show-stopping Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor performed by16-year-old Kaylee Kim, who won the ensemble’s 2021 Concerto Competition.

The concert opens with a special performance from CYSO’s Philharmonic Orchestra, who will perform Lalo’s Overture to Le roi d’Ys under the baton of Associate Conductor Terrance Malone Gray. Don’t miss this unforgettable evening from some of music’s brightest young stars!
