Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass in Act 1 finale of ‘Tosca’

For its annual special concert, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass, conducted by Michael Mulcahy, closed out the program with an arrangement of the Act 1 finale of Puccini’s “Tosca.” In the opera, as a choir and a processional sing the sacred Te Deum, Baron Scarpia declares his lust for Tosca and reveals his vengeful scheme. The act ends with an explosion of brass, the perfect expression for the CSO’s legendary section.

Recorded December 18, 2019.
