The Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Zell Music Director Designate Klaus Mäkelä concluded their first tour together in Boston for a concert that marked the Orchestra’s first appearance at historic Symphony Hall in 25 years. Presented by Vivo Performing Arts on this occasion, the CSO first performed in Boston in 1898 and has made many memorable appearances in the city over the years, including what former music director Fritz Reiner called “a perfect concert,” referring to his 1958 tour performance of works by Berlioz, Brahms and Strauss with the CSO in Symphony Hall. Outside of concert time, musicians took a few detours in the city including a visit to Fenway Park and stops at top establishments for some of Boston’s favorite eats.
