During the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s February 23 tour stop in Ann Arbor, Michigan, musicians and students connected for masterclasses, including those presented as part of tour education activities produced by the Negaunee Music Institute at the CSO. Principal Bassoon Keith Buncke, CSO Flute and Piccolo Jennifer Gunn, Principal Tuba Gene Pokorny, Principal Percussion Cynthia Yeh and Principal Librarian Justin Vibbard worked with students from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance ahead of the CSO’s evening concert with Zell Music Director Klaus Mäkelä at Hill Auditorium. Education activities with young musicians at different experience levels are a core part of touring work for CSO musicians each time the Orchestra travels in the U.S. and internationally.
