For the last Florida stop on its 2025 U.S. Winter Tour, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra traveled to Orlando for a concert Jan. 18 at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The musicians arrived by bus at mid-afternoon, which meant they had free time to explore before the concert that night at the center’s Steinmetz Hall.

Led by Riccardo Muti, Music Director Emeritus for Life, the CSO performed  works by Bellini, Schubert and Tchaikovsky in the acoustically distinctive Steinmetz Hall. One of four theaters in the Dr. Phillips Center, Steinmetz Hall opened in 2022. Before the concert, CSO donors, guests, friends  and CSO alumni — including former CSO violin Leon Brenner and his son — joined musicians and staff at a reception.

The next day, Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians received a well-deserved break after five consecutive days of performances. Taking advantage of Orlando’s popular attractions, musicians ventured to Disney World, enjoying exciting rides, spectacular fireworks and relaxing strolls through the park, with stops for food and fun along the way.

Next, the CSO and Maestro Muti head to New York City, for a one-night-only concert Jan. 21 at historic Carnegie Hall, followed by a two-day residency Jan. 23-24 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
