Education & Community Engagement Activities in Brussels

While on tour, members of the CSO regularly share their expertise with students and talents with community members in the cities they visit. While in Brussels, masterclasses were held for fellows at Belgian National Orchestra Academy, and a performance was given for asylum seekers at Petite Chateau on Wednesday, January 10. 

CSO violin So Young Bae works with violinist Zhaoying Xu, a fellow at the Belgian National Orchestra Academy, on orchestral excerpts by Mendelssohn, Brahms and Beethoven in a masterclass held in the Chamber Music Hall at the Palais Des Beaux Arts, known as the BOZAR.

Following the string masterclass with Bae, CSO principal flute Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson took the stage with Belgian National Orchestra Academy fellow Nikolina Csiffary, who worked on excerpts by Brahms, Prokofiev and Verdi.

A group of asylum seekers from across the world who have arrived in Belgium assembled at Petite Chateau (Little Castle) for a free concert featuring members of the CSO. Associate principal concertmaster Stephanie Jeong, violin Matous Michal and viola Danny Lai performed a selection of string trios.
