For the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Riccardo Muti, the 2023 Florida Tour concludes with two concerts at Frances Pew Hayes Hall, presented by Artis—Naples. For the first concert, on Thursday, March 2, the CSO and Muti offered Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony and Coriolan Overture, Mussorgsky’s Pictures from an Exhibition and Liadov’s The Enchanted Lake.

Before the concert, musicians enjoyed the warm Florida weather by going swimming or taking a jog. Later, musicians headed to the Baker Museum of Art on the campus of Artis—Naples, where pre-concert receptions were held.

The concerts are part of a multi-season residency in Naples, which began in 2019 but was disrupted by the pandemic. After a second concert on Saturday, March 4, and master classes the following day, the CSO will return to Chicago for an all-Dvořák progam March 9-12 with Herbert Blomstedt.

Violinist Sylvia Kim Kilcullen enjoys some time in the pool with son Micah during the orchestra’s stop in Sarasota.
