CSO at Ravinia
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra returns to its summer home for its 90th anniversary residency, a six-week engagement beginning July 11 and running until Aug. 16. Curated by Ravinia's Chief Conductor Marin Alsop, the schedule features Mahler's Sixth Symphony, Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony (Pastoral), the annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular and special concerts with singer-songwriters Lizzo and St. Vincent. In addition, the CSO's Zell Music Director Designate Klaus Mäkelä makes his Ravinia debut with two programs. James Conlon, former Ravinia music director, leads the CSO in Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio at the Martin Theatre. After helping to inaugurate the first season of the Ravinia Festival in 1936, the Chicago Symphony has been in residence there every summer since, save for 2020.
