Muti Conducts Allegro con brio from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3

OVERVIEW

Riccardo Muti led the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a stirring performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 to conclude the first program of the 2021/22 Season. In his remarks to open the evening, Muti lauded the heroism of musicians whose voices were once again allowed to ring out after falling silent during the pandemic — a message that resonated in the Orchestra’s triumphant delivery of the Eroica Symphony. This excerpt of the first movement was recorded on September 23, 2021.
