This week, join a celebration of the life and legacy of Adolph “Bud” Herseth — the CSO’s principal trumpet from 1948 until 2001 and principal trumpet emeritus from 2001 until 2004 — on his 100th birthday. The broadcast features highlights from Herseth’s illustrious career, including Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition led by Rafael Kubelik, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat Major led by Claudio Abbado, Richard Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra led by Fritz Reiner, plus music by Martin and Ives.
