This week, we celebrate Klaus Mäkelä — recently named the CSO’s Zell Music Director Designate — in Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. The program opens with Sibelius’ The Swan of Tuonela from Four Legends from the Kalevala and, in between, we hear the U.S. premiere of Aino, a piece co-commissioned by the CSO and written by Jimmy López Bellido.
