On this week’s broadcast, we’ll salute Frederick Stock, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s second music director, by looking back at his industrious, 37-year tenure in Chicago. Opening the broadcast is Mendelssohn’s Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream from the CSO’s very first commercial recording. The broadcast also includes works by Bartók, Elgar, Scriabin and Paganini.
