Shannon Harris

Shannon Harris’ career spans a diverse and expansive range of disciplines, including information technology, anthropology, ethnomusicology, global music studies, wellness and sound energy science. With more than 30 years of experience in the IT sector, Harris has had the privilege of working with several Fortune 500 companies. His artistic and musical journey, which has spanned four decades and taken him to six continents, has allowed him to engage with a wide array of cultural and spiritual traditions.

After suffering from bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome and a variety of chronic illnesses, Harris sought alternative therapies that led him to explore sound therapy, acupuncture, yoga, meditation, Qi Gong, traditional Chinese medicine, Eastern medicine and indigenous healing practices. In the past 20 years, he has committed himself to wellness research and development through his trademarked proprietary protocols, Audio Pharmacology™ and Frequency as a Pharmacy™.

As a recognized expert in sound science and therapeutic sound, Harris has become a leading figure in the mindfulness field. He serves as a mindfulness coach and brain/body entrainer, collaborating with clients in Silicon Valley, Hollywood, Seattle, New York, Chicago, India, Africa and Central and South America. His immersive, customized sound, light and aroma therapy experiences have been featured at prestigious venues, including the Adler Planetarium, Garfield Park Conservatory, the University of Illinois Logan Center for the Arts, Oxbow School of Art, Sedona Yoga Festival and the GIA Conference, among others.

In 2020, he co-founded Self Care Laboratories LLC, a consultancy focused on enhancing personal and professional quality of life. Since 2023, he has worked closely with the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events at the Englewood Mental Health Clinic. Recently, Harris was appointed director of health and well-being at the South Side Liberation Center and serves as the resident Healing Arts Facilitator at the Englewood Mental Health Center.
