Meagan McNeal is a powerhouse singer-songwriter and recording artist from Chicago. Steeped in the genres of soul, jazz and R&B, she is known for her diverse range and soulful voice.
Influenced by groundbreaking artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan and Anita Baker, McNeal honed her talents throughout the years and gradually shaped her signature style. She attracted local attention and received international acclaim with the release of her debut album titled “Mindset” in 2013. After gracing the stage of NBC’s “The Voice” in 2017, McNeal was mentored by Grammy Award-winning artist Jennifer Hudson. Using the tools and experiences she attained from the mentorship and artist development on “The Voice,” she advanced her music career. With her fervent drive and dedication, McNeal has gone on to perform throughout the nation and across the globe.
She has been recruited to sing backing vocals for world-famous artists such as Eminem, Common and The O’Jays. In 2019, her viral performance video of “Hey Hey” on a CTA L train garnered more than a million views on social media platforms and landed her back in the national spotlight with an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Despite the many challenges of 2020, McNeal was honored with a 3Arts Chicago Grant. She has spent her time off the road developing new music, recording and pivoting her live performances into a distinctive brand of virtual concerts. She continues on her mission to transcend boundaries and spread messages of unapologetic, universal truth through her music.
