Jasmin Cardenas

Jasmin Cardenas is thrilled to be performing with musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, as they bring her bilingual adaptation of Maybe Something Beautiful to this stage. A longtime fan of the book’s authors F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrator Rafael López, Cardenas finds this experience particularly fulfilling.

The daughter of Colombian parents, she has been delighting young audiences for many years as the StoryBus Educator, the Chicago Public Library Cuentos Aqui Storyteller and more recently as host and writer for Project Rainbow, an early-learning initiative of Cook County, on YouTube and WYYC Channel 20. She also hosts a walking tour called “Butterflies, Aztec Gods and Puerquitos,” produced by Chicago Children’s Theatre.

Cardenas has performed at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tenn., and tours the country regularly, performing at festivals, libraries and schools. A Dramatists Guild of America member, SAG-AFTRA actress and Georgetown University LAB Fellow, she is currently completing her commissioned solo play “Disposable” for 1st Stage in Tysons, Va.
