Cellist Brandon Xu began his music studies in the Suzuki program in Ithaca, New York with Christine Lowe-Diemecke, and later studied with Dr. William Grubb in Indianapolis. He was previously a member of the Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at Indiana University, with whom he performed at the Beethoven-Haus Kammermusiksaal in Bonn, Germany; the Chelsea Music Festival in New York City; Chamber Music @ NewPark in Ithaca, New York; and the Toronto Summer Music Festival. Xu holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and the Eastman School of Music, where he received the Performer’s Certificate and John Celentano Chamber Music Prize. He has appeared as a regular substitute musician for the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the Chicago and Milwaukee symphonies, and was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. His teachers include Amir Eldan, Eric Kim, and David Ying.
