Isabel Evernham is a Chicago-based orchestral flute and piccolo player who recently graduated from Northwestern University in 2026 with her Masters degree in Flute Performance, studying flute with John Thorne, and piccolo with Jennifer Gunn and Alyce Johnson. She graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance, studying flute and piccolo with Cindy Meyers, the piccolo of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. During her time in Boston, she often performed with the NEC Philharmonia and Wind Ensemble. She was also the principal piccolo of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, performing regularly in Boston’s Symphony Hall, as well as on international tours to South Africa and Europe.
Isabel began her studies at age ten in Nashville, Tennessee, studying closely with Leslie Fagan, 2nd Flute in the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. She received musical training through the Nashville Symphony’s Accelerando Program during her high school years. She has had the pleasure of participating in masterclasses with Lorna McGhee, Kelly Zimba Lukic, Paula Robison, Herman van Kogelenberg, and Amanda Harberg, among others. In recent years, she has taken part in various summer festivals, including Orford Musique, PRISMA Festival & Academy, and the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute. Isabel currently holds the 2nd Flute position in the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and is a Regular Member and Fellow of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
What are you most looking forward to this season?
I am most looking forward to collaborating closely with the other Civic Fellows in performances aside from the orchestra! I am also looking forward to diving deep into my personal project and engaging closely with different communities around Chicago.
