Alexander Wallack is a double bassist and educator based in Chicago, IL. He is a proud Fellow and Regular Member in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and also holds a section position in the Illinois Symphony. Having recently graduated from Northwestern University with a master’s in music, and having previously attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, he credits his teachers Andrew Raciti and Scott Dixon with his successes. Alexander has played as a substitute musician with the Milwaukee Symphony and the New World Symphony, and, prior to moving to Chicago, performed with the Canton and Mansfield symphonies of Ohio.
In addition to orchestral repertoire, Alexander is also an accomplished jazz bassist and composer, having performed and recorded throughout the U.S. and Canada. Alexander has a great passion for teaching, working with private students on double bass, electric bass and piano. Alexander is also trained in Dalcroze Eurhythmics and has previously taught general music in the Dalcroze tradition curriculum. When not making music, you can find Alex cheering on a Philly sports team with his family or winning a game of Catan with his friends.
