Chicago Symphony Chorus is currently accepting audition applications for the 26-27 season.
The Chicago Symphony Chorus welcomes all voice parts to audition. The CSC is a fully professional chorus under an AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists) contract and pays competitive wages. You need not be a union member to audition. Candidates who win a position with the CSC will be required to join AGMA. All auditions will be heard by Chorus Director, Donald Palumbo.
Auditions for the 2026-2027 season will be held March 2 – March 18, 2026.
Applications will be accepted through 11:59pm on Monday, February 23, 2026.
All auditions will be held at Symphony Center, located at 220 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60604.
Audition requirements:
- Prepare the following choral excerpt. The pianist will play the 2 bar introduction.
- Prepare two contrasting (style and tempo) solos: art song, oratorio excerpt, or opera aria.
- It is likely that Donald Palumbo will not hear entire pieces.
- At least one piece must be in a foreign language.
- You may be asked to perform a sight-reading exercise, and vocalizations.
We provide a Chicago Symphony Chorus staff pianist and original parts of the excerpt at all auditions. Please bring a clean legible copy of your solo pieces (in a 3-ring binder) for the pianist.
