Overview
Lukas Sternath is the new sound of Vienna. A native of the Austrian capital, he absorbed its hallowed traditions from an early age — both as a pianist and a onetime member of the Vienna Boys Choir. Audiences have marveled at the freshness of Sternath’s artistry and his “uncanny gift of communicating through the piano as if it were a tuneful cello” (The New York Times). Sternath makes his eagerly awaited U.S. and North American debut at Symphony Center with Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy — a pianistic symphony in all but name — and Liszt’s evocative renderings of Italian art and poetry.
