Album release concert for Hiromi’s Out There
With her quartet, Japanese pianist and composer Hiromi showcases her “distinctive musical alchemy: the spirit of classic jazz-rock fusion melded with classically rooted virtuosity, entrancing funk, pop flourishes and acoustic jazz” (Jazzwise). Her new album, Out There, is an electrifying tour de force, crafted with a spirit of exploration and collaboration. Harpist Brandee Younger and her trio open the program, paying homage to jazz harp pioneers Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane.
