Salonen Returns
A longtime collaborator with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conductor-composer Esa-Pekka Salonen returns for a two-week residency this spring. His programs feature works by Ravel and Stravinsky alongside 21st-century compositions by himself, Bryce Dessner and Caroline Shaw. As a conductor and leader, he is known for his groundbreaking approach to presenting and performing music; he’s also acclaimed for joining technological innovation with adventurous curation and meticulous performance. The 2020/21 season marked Salonen’s first as music director of the San Francisco Symphony and his last as principal conductor and artistic adviser of London's Philharmonia Orchestra.
