Béla Bartók

Béla Bartók’s name was hardly known here when the Chicago Symphony Orchestra gave the U.S. premiere of his Second Piano Concerto in March 1939. Since then, the Orchestra has performed all the composer’s major works and has made numerous award-winning recordings. Today, the CSO performs Bartók’s music with a regularity the composer never lived to see.
