Ozawa Conducts Beethoven and Bartók

In this week’s broadcast, we pay tribute to Seiji Ozawa, who made history as the first music director of the Ravinia Festival, serving from 1964 to 1968 and returning as principal conductor for the 1969 season. The broadcast begins with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, followed by Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor. Pianist Peter Serkin then joins the orchestra for Schoenberg’s Piano Concerto, and the broadcast concludes with Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra.
