From Argentina, the revue Tango After Dark

Billed as the ultimate theatrical tango experience, Tango After Dark merges the timeless music of master tango composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) and dazzling choreography to showcase tango in its most authentic but sophisticated form.

International tango superstars and World Tango Champions German Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi, along with a group of eight world-class tango dancers, dance to the magical music of Astor Piazzolla, the one and only composer and bandoneon player, performed by an acclaimed band in a spectacular concert.

With its stunning costumes, intoxicating dancers and enchanting music, Tango After Dark has captivated audiences in sold-out performances worldwide that celebrate tango, direct from Buenos Aires, in its purest form. (Tango After Dark comes to Orchestra Hall for an SCP Featured Concert on Feb. 28.)

From seriously sensual to irresistibly stylish, the sultry and talented award-winning cast of dancers, led by “King of Tango” German Cornejo and his partner Gisela Galeassi, joins forces with two of the finest singers from Argentina and a sensational live band of seven musicians to bring alive an intimate and electrifying production that is unforgettable.

Piazzolla is Buenos Aires but he is also night: peak and abyss, fierceness and mystery, lights and shadows of this city which never sleeps; all reflected in his music, as they would look in a kaleidoscope. Tango After Dark springs from this porteña (meaning typical of Buenos Aires) night, Piazzolla’s muse and inspiration.
