Wrapping up their nearly 50-year legacy as a performing ensemble, the Emerson String Quartet made a stop at Symphony Center on Sunday to perform works by Walker and Shostakovich. To conclude the program, the quartet was joined by longtime collaborator pianist Emanuel Ax, where they performed Dvořák’s fervent Piano Quintet No. 2.
