The concert experience

Orchestra Hall

Orchestra Hall is a very big room with more than 2,000 seats.

There is a stage where the musicians and conductor will perform.

Seats in Orchestra Hall

Each seat is covered with velvet-like fabric and has arm rests.

Lights in Orchestra Hall

The lights in Orchestra Hall will be dim.

There may be colorful lights behind the musicians on stage.

The lights may slowly change throughout the performance.

Okay to cover ears

The music may be both soft and loud, and both fast and slow.

It’s OK for me to cover my ears with my hands or headphones if the sound is too loud for me.

Keep body still

I will try my best to keep my body still and my voice silent during the performance.

Fidget tools

I can also use a silent sensory tool or fidget toy to help me stay focused on the music.

Finding quiet spaces.

If I need a space to make big movements or sounds, I can go to the quieter spaces:

  • Grainger Ballroom on the second floor of Orchestra Hall
  • The lower-level lobby
  • The upper-level arcade spaces

Ushers can help me find these spaces.

Concert is 45 minutes

The concert will last about 45 minutes.

I understand that this performance might be my or someone else’s first time at a concert.

I will help to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where everyone can enjoy the music.
