With its evocation of snowy northern landscapes and an unforgettable, triumphant finale, Sibelius’ Second Symphony stands as an emblem of Finland’s nationalist spirit. The program begins with Brahms’ gloriously lyrical tribute to Haydn and Prophecy, a one-movement accordion concerto exploring the tradition of clairvoyance in various cultures by Estonian composer (and progressive rock veteran) Erkki-Sven Tüür.
