Ravichandra Kulur (flute) is an internationally acclaimed virtuoso. He began his training under his father, Sri K. Raghavendra Rao. The son was later hailed as a flute maestro by legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar, who invited the younger Kulur to join him for 2005-2006 concerts titled “Festival of India III.”
Kulur has performed in more than 1,200 concerts in 34 countries, gracing stages such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Royal Festival Hall and Sydney Opera House, along with festivals including WOMAD, Roskilde, SF, Helsinki Festival, Bangalore Habba and many more.
His music blends Carnatic, world music and jazz fusion. In addition to Ravi Shankar, he has collaborated with Anoushka Shankar and A.R. Rahman. He has collaborated with musicians in many genres from fusion to pop, rock, jazz, funk, flamenco, Western classical and Celtic.
His music has been broadcast by National Public Radio in the United States. and also by FM stations in Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and Germany.
