Lidia Fridman

Lidia Fridman is a dramatic bel canto soprano renowned for her impressive vocal range, rich, d color and extraordinary agility.

Her international career began in 2019 with the lead role in Albinoni’s La Statira at La Fenice in Venice, marking the opera’s first modern production. Shortly thereafter, she performed at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, captivating audiences as the title character in Nicola Antonio Manfroce’s Ecuba, directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi. She also received acclaim for her portrayal of Sylvia de Linares in the world premiere of Donizetti’s L’Ange de Nisida (an earlier, never performed version of the composer’s f La Favorite) at the Donizetti Festival in Bergamo, under the direction of Francesco Micheli.

In 2020, Fridman continued to take on prominent roles, including Dido and Aeneas in Padova and Lucrezia Borgia, with performances at Müpa Budapest, Teatro Verdi in Trieste and the Aalto Theatre in Essen. During the 2021/2022 season, she shone in the title role of Norma at La Monnaie in Brussels and Teatro Regio in Turin, as well as in Aroldo in Rimini, Don Giovanni at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Il segreto di Susanna at Konzerthaus Berlin and Eugene Onegin at Staatsoper Hannover.

A significant milestone in her career was her collaboration with Maestro Riccardo Muti, which began in the same season. This collaboration led to major engagements, including her acclaimed performances as Abigaille in Nabucco and Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera under Muti’s baton. This fruitful partnership also included two notable concerts: one celebrating the 250th anniversary of Gaspare Spontini at Teatro Pergolesi Jesi and another honoring Giacomo Puccini at the historic Mura di Lucca.

Recently, she performed in Verdi’s Macbeth, including a French version at the Verdi Festival in Parma and in Lucrezia Borgia at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. She is scheduled to perform title roles in Anna Bolena at Teatro La Fenice, Norma at the Wiener Staatsoper and Marie in Wozzeck at Teatro La Fenice, Stiffelio at Teatro Municipale Piacenza and also in Macbeth at Teatro Regio Torino under the baton of Riccardo Muti.
