Kevin Short’s current and future engagements include THE OLD DUKE Guntram Carnegie Hall American Symphony Orchestra, IL RE Aida Washington Opera, and ANGELOTTI Tosca, LEPIDUS in John Adams’ Anthony and Cleopatra, and FRAZIER Porgy and Bess Metropolitan Opera. Recent work includes PORGY Porgy and Bess NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester Hamburg, HEADMASTER/PREACHER/MR. DINGLEAS in Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio Cincinnati Opera, Beethoven IX Philadelphia Orchestra, Mahler VIII Grant Park Music Festival Chicago, and RIVERS/RALSTON Getty’s Goodbye, Mr. Chips (recording and film), and Don Giovanni (title role) Joburg Theatre.

In a career where he sang over twenty operas at the Metropolitan Opera, recent highlights have included PORGY Porgy and Bess, SAM Un Ballo in Maschera, UNCLE PAUL in Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones, DOCTOR GRENVIL La Traviata and PFLEGER Elektra. Kevin also performed roles such as Der fliegende Holländer (title role), SARASTRO Die Zauberflöte, ROCCO and DON FERNANDO Fidelio, NICK SHADOW The Rake’s Progress, MEPHISTOPHELES Faust, PHILIPPE II Don Carlos, ZACCARIA Nabucco, SPARAFUCILE Rigoletto , JACK RANCE La Fanciulla del West in Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Arizona Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Vancouver Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Seattle Opera, New York City Opera, Opéra Comique, Opéra de Reims, Welsh National Opera, Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg, Oper der Stadt Köln, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Theater Basel, Staatstheater Bern, Theater St. Gallen and festivals including Baden-Baden, Bregenz, Aix-en-Provence, Savonlinna, and Spoleto. Concert appearances include Opera Orchestra of New York, Avery Fisher Hall, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Boston Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, RAI Orchestra, and Parma Reggio Emilia Orchestra. He recorded a solo aria album with Mo. Lawrence Foster and Orchestre de l’Opéra de Marseille on Pentatone Music Label. Kevin received his training at Morgan State University, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Juilliard School of Music.
