Since its launch, Chicago Children’s Theatre (CCT) has served more than half a million children and families with productions of the highest caliber and innovative classes and camps, including groundbreaking programming for children on the autism spectrum and young people with disabilities. CCT believes, and statistics support, the idea that exposure to high-quality arts experiences increases a child’s capacity for empathy and ultimately fosters a more inclusive community. In 2019, Chicago Children’s Theatre won the National TYA Artistic Innovation Award from Theatre for Young Audiences/USA. In addition, Chicago Children’s Theatre has garnered six NEA Art Works grants, and in 2017, became the first U.S. theater for young audiences to win a National Theatre Award from the American Theatre Wing, sponsors of the Tony Awards.
