Justine Jing Xin Teo

Justine Teo is a Singaporean violinist based in Chicago. She is currently a Violin Fellow with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and performs regularly with ensembles throughout the region, including the Elgin, Peoria and Northbrook Symphony Orchestras. Justine has appeared on prominent stages such as Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, Harris Theater, Auditorium Theatre, and Fourth Presbyterian Church. Her work has brought her to international venues as well, including Taipei’s National Concert Hall and Singapore’s Esplanade. Recently, she was featured in a PBS broadcast of Chautauqua 150, performing All Rise with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Justine has participated in summer festivals including the Chautauqua Institution School of Music, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, Northwestern University’s Summer Violin Institute and Dartington International Summer School.

Equally passionate about music education, Justine is a Teaching Artist with Apollo’s Fire, where she works closely with young musicians in their Side-by-Side Strings Program in Matteson, Illinois. Her teaching is informed by her deep belief in music’s power to build community and inspire connection. Justine holds a Post-Master’s Certificate from DePaul University, where she was in the studio of Janet Sung. She earned both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, studying with Almita Vamos and MingHuan Xu.
