For Sir András Schiff, surveying the piano sonatas of Beethoven is “the most stupendous journey. They give a complete picture of how Beethoven developed through his creative life.” In this special evening recital, Schiff performs the four sonatas from 1801 that transition the composer into his more experimental middle period, including the famous Moonlight Sonata and the genial Pastoral Sonata.
