Explore the transformative power of music at Soundpost! Held in Symphony Center’s Buntrock Hall from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., this Soundpost series on May 16th considers music’s ability to heal communities. Hear from Ryan Keesling, the founder and Executive Director of Free Write Arts & Literacy, as he discusses how music can be used as a literacy tool for struggling readers detained in the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center and how the organization has grown into a workforce development initiative in the community (Free Write Sound & Vision) that works to promote employment equity in the arts industry. Joining Ryan at this special event is Guinevere Grimstad, Winnetka Campus Director of the Music Institute of Chicago, who will discuss MIC’s mission of providing a foundation for lifelong engagement with music through their all-age musical education programs and efforts to bring music to individuals whose educational resources are diminished or limited.
Tickets to Soundpost are just $20 and include complimentary bites, $5 cocktails, live music demonstrations and music by DJ Ryan Searchl1te.
