One of the most influential and multi-faceted artists of our time, hip-hop artist, film producer, poet and actor Common returns to his hometown for a one-night-only performance with Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. With the release of his 1992 debut album Can I Borrow a Dollar?, Common quickly established himself as a passionate American voice, and his prolific career extends into the realms of film, television and philanthropy. Hear Common perform a selection of songs including the Grammy Award-winning “Love of My Life,” Golden Globe- and Academy award-winning “Glory” from Selma and more.

Concert ONLY tickets start at $80. Please note that some Terrace patrons will have a brief, obstructed view of a screen at the beginning of the program.

Corporate Night is a fundraising event presented in partnership by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association and the League of the CSOA. Proceeds benefit the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s artistic, education and community engagement programs in Chicago and across the globe.

As the son of an educator, Common built his career around learning from new experiences. The rapper, activist and actor will continue following his imagination when he performs June 3 with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. “To perform with the Chicago Symphony is something that you never even think about, so I’m excited," he said. "And to be put in this category is a blessing in and of itself.” Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories

Conductor-composer-arranger Steven Reineke thinks it’s time for hip-hop to take its place on the orchestral pops stage. “We’re giving it its due as a real American art form,” said Reineke, who will conduct the Chicago Symphony’s annual Corporate Night with Common and members of the orchestra on June 3. “We already do jazz, the great American songbook, Broadway, classic rock, bluegrass — now we’re branching out further.” Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
