The Symphony Center Presents special concert featuring Nils Frahm on Friday, April 5 has been canceled. If you ordered online by credit card, you will automatically receive a refund. Please visit nilsfrahm.com/concerts for additional information.

Berlin-based keyboardist Nils Frahm moves effortlessly between producing spare, melancholic melodies on solo piano and dense rhythms from vintage synthesizers. For his 2018 disc, All Melody, Frahm spent two years crafting the ideal recording conditions in a 1950s-era East Berlin studio, resulting in an array of richly layered soundscapes. The L.A. Times declares, “Frahm is a polymath with few peers in music today.”

To be announced.

Performers

Classical fans might watch Nils Frahm jamming onstage with a stack of keyboards, and think of John Adams or Philip Glass. Ravers might watch the same thing and think of the last techno club they visited. But Frahm, who appears in an SCP Special Concert on April 5, is walking a path all his own. “I was never really talented in genre. I felt my talent was to find a thing that wasn’t there, something that was not in my record collection,” the Berlin-based keyboardist said. “It’s hard, because there’s already so much out there. Any genre has been influential for me, even the ones I didn’t like." Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
