One Earth Tour 2019: Evolution

Japanese taiko-drumming troupe Kodo returns to Symphony Center for a dramatic performance full of pulsing rhythms, athletic virtuosity and stirring passion. “Indeed, if there is such a thing as perfection in music, Kodo comes as near to it as any group in the world” (The New York Times).

When Hayato Otsuka plays drums with the taiko ensemble Kodo, he tries to clear his mind of any extraneous thoughts to immerse himself in the moment and absorb the audience’s reaction.
